The ObamaCare Decision

Much has been written about tomorrow’s historic United States Supreme Court decision on the constitutionality of ObamaCare. The biggest surprise is the left’s attitude toward the court. If they don’t get their way they’re going to drone on and on about how the court is a right-wing tool. It’s boring.

After months of hand wringing over the Arizona immigration law, most of it was struck down by the court. However, the one controversial piece was upheld by a 7-2 margin. Even the court’s lone Hispanic representative upheld the stop-and-check portion of the law.

The progressive movement has always been at war with the Constitution. The progressive Republicans of the early 20th century fought vigorously against the Republican form of government. The progressive movement of that time is remembered fondly for women’s rights, but it should be known for giving us the income tax, prohibition, direct election of Senators, and a whole list of  bad ideas.

The reason liberal progressives detest the Constitution is because it makes it very difficult to pass their ideas of “social justice.” When liberals feel like the Supreme Court votes against their political ideology it has to be because the court is ideological.

I don’t know what the court will decide tomorrow. The Commerce Clause, as it has been interpreted by the Supreme Court, can justify almost anything. There seems to be no limit to what the government can do. More and more Americans don’t care anymore. In the end, it doesn’t really matter what the court decides tomorrow. We’re already too far down the road of debauchery and bankruptcy to turn back now.
